Your Defining Moment

“You never knew which split second might be the zig zag bolt dividing all that went before from everything that comes next.”
from Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver

tree-barkIn everyone’s life there are events or words said that help us form beliefs about the world and who we are. They can be thoughtless or careless observations or remarks. They can be physical, emotional, or mental abuse. They can be our own comparisons between the circumstances of our life and someone else’s. Accidents or losses experienced can be traumatic or subtle. Whatever their origin, we decide who we are and how we will behave based on these events. Just as this gutted peach tree trunk looks as if it has no chance of survival, our limited self-talk renders us incapable of seeing ourselves in any fruitful way.

Think about your behavior: Do you react in a way that is out of proportion to the present circumstance? Do you fear success or failure? Are you procrastinating or afraid to take a risk? Do you sabotage yourself in any way? Do you feel undeserving or unworthy of love, good health, wealth, etc? What happened in your life to make you see the world in that way?

While most of our behavior comes from the subconscious, we can probably recall these events, a good portion of which may have occurred in our youth, and feel the same deep emotional reaction in the present. We have defined ourselves through these experiences and created roadblocks and limitations that plague us on our life’s journey. So what can we do to redefine ourselves and break through these limiting beliefs?

treeEmotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a simple yet powerful way of releasing old memories and negative self-talk and opening up the space for new actions. By recalling the events that formed these limitations, and acknowledging your feelings about them while tapping on certain release points on your body, you can clear the way for new and empowering beliefs that free you to be thetree best you can be. Hypnotherapy can then implant new ways and suggestions for future success. And just like this peach tree is overcoming its past injuries and finding new strength to thrive, so can you!

I have scheduled a Reiki Level 1 class for Saturday, April 20th from 9:30 -12. If you would like to learn Reiki, or schedule any session, just give me a call at 513-680-1875.

Life’s a peach!
